CMG and diAx team up to launch new content-rich WAP services at Telecom 99.
GENEVA October - 1999
CMG, a leading European IT service group, and diAx, the new Swiss mobile operator with the most up-to-date dual band GSM network in the country, offer a great variety in new Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) services at Telecom 99. The WAP Service Broker from CMG provides diAx customers timely and accurate information on Finance and Banking, News, Sports and Weather, Travel and Leisure, and E-Mail services.
One of the highlights of these services is financial information from Telekurs: diAx has entered into a strategic relationship with Telekurs Financial to provide real-time financial information to end-users. diAx customers can access financial indices, currency exchange rates, world stock exchanges, and financial headlines and obtain stock quotes.
"The new service is very user-friendly. With a touch of a button users can access train and flight schedules, cultural events, and news from around the world anytime and anywhere. WAP adds a new dimension to mobile communication - bringing mobility to the Internet", said Rick Murray, Head of diAx Mobile Marketing. diAx is constantly building innovative solutions with leading partners to provide real value for its customers.
The new WAP version 1.1 trial services by CMG and diAx, powered by a Compaq platform, also include other state-of-the-art applications like wireless banking, and comprehensive news and information services. Users with a WAP compatible mobile phone can also send and receive e-mails conveniently.
As Peter Maathuis, Managing Director of CMG Telecommunications, puts it: "WAP gives mobile phone users direct access to a personal selection of Internet content. It combines the simplicity of Internet surfing with the convenience of making a telephone call."
CMG's WAP Service Broker offers operators the opportunity to only make available those Internet services that are tuned to the mobile environment and develop secure, well manageable services.
Telecom 99 will be held from October 10 - 17 at the Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland. For a personal demonstration visit the CMG stand 3120, Hall 3 or the Compaq stand 2081, Hall 2.
