NOTIME WIRELESS JOINS WAP FORUM TO DRIVE STANDARD FOR DATA ACCESS TO WIRELESS INFORMATION DEVICES Leading Developer of Wireless Data Communications Software Helps Define WAP Standards For the Delivery of Information from the Enterprise to the Device HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA, January 19, 2000 - NoTime Wireless, a leading developer of wireless data communications software, today announced that it has joined the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Forum, the industry association that is driving standards and technology for accessing information via the Internet from wireless devices. The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is an open, global specification that empowers mobile users with wireless devices to easily access and interact with information and services instantly. The WAP Forum is the industry association comprising over 280 members that has developed the de-facto world standard for wireless information and telephony services on digital mobile phones and other wireless terminals. The primary goal of the WAP Forum is to bring together companies from all segments of the wireless industry value chain to ensure product interoperability and growth of wireless market. WAP Forum members represent over 95% of the global handset market, carriers with more than 100 million subscribers, leading infrastructure providers, software developers and other organizations providing solutions to the wireless industry.
These standards complement NoTime Wireless current ability to deliver high speed, ultra thin client access to any database from anywhere, via the Internet. With todays announcement, NoTime Wireless plans to extend its support to WAP-enabled browsers on the wireless Internet. This is the first step to providing a seamless set of applications to mobile users needing to exchange information with the office or each other in real-time.
