AU-SYSTEM LAUNCHES NEW VERSION OF THE AUS WAP BROWSER PCIA Global Exchange, Chicago, September 27, 2000 - AU-System, a leading Mobile Internet consultancy, today launched a new version of the AUS WAP Browser. The new version is compliant with the June 2000 conformance release of the WAP Forum specifications.
With this launch we show that we continue to hold our leading position within the development of WAP technology, says Christer Bjrk, Business Unit Manager at AU-System. The June 2000 conformance release is a first step towards WAP Next Generation and shows WAP as an important enabler of Mobile Internet services.
The new version of the AUS WAP Browser includes support for: * WTA support - enables developers (operators and service providers) to make more advanced telephony related services, e.g. to provide the user with an easy-to-use, graphical, voice mail interface. * Push functionality - enables sophisticated services where the user may subscribe to certain information, e.g. notifications of new incoming mail on the users account can be pushed to the user. * User Agent Profile - an extensible framework used to inform WAP sites about capabilities of the users device, e.g. screen size, connection speed etc. * Higher security functionality - a more thorough security solution including WIM-access and access to cryptographic APIs. This is needed for services like e-commerce and secure transactions.
In addition, the open architecture of the new AUS WAP Browser opens possibilities to support new bearers like Bluetooth, GPRS and UMTS.
