RESTON, Va. September 28, 2000 Ztango, a Wireless Application Service Provider (W-ASP) providing wireless extension and wireless application solutions to network operators, e-companies, and corporations, today announced that it has licensed RSA BSAFE Crypto-C software from RSA Security Inc. (NASDAQ:RSAS) for its Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) gateway product. By including RSA Securitys software in its gateway solution, Ztango is able to deliver end-to-end secure communications for a wide variety of applications, commerce and financial services.
The combination of WTLS, SSL and RSA BSAFE Crypto-C software, provides the necessary end-to-end security that has been proven and widely accepted in the industry by corporations, developer communities and commerce providers. In the current 1.2 release of the Ztango WAP Gateway, WTLS Class 1 and Class 2 are supported with best in breed cryptographic solutions from RSA Security. In anticipation of the supported functionality in WAP devices, the support for WTLS Class 3 in the Ztango WAP Gateway is planned for later this year.
The Ztango product suite brings advanced wireless data services to wireless phones and other wireless terminals, in line with goals established by the industry association that regulates the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), the WAP Forum. The RSA BSAFE line of security software helps sensitive information to be communicated between the WAP terminal and the application/service in a secure environment.
The wireless arena is moving rapidly to empower users, and Ztangos gateway is a part of this movement to deliver wireless services to network operators, e-companies and corporations, said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of Marketing at RSA Security. The RSA Security software solution helps sensitive information to be communicated between the WAP terminal and the application in a secure environment. This not only enhances the value of the Ztango WAP Gateway product, but also provides the same benefits to Ztango customers that are subscribed to the Ztango WASP offering.
