AU-System Delivers Solution for Mobile Banking Services in Singapore Stockholm, Sweden - May 17, 2001 - AU-System and Sun Microsystems have delivered a solution for mobile banking services to DBS Bank in Singapore, the largest banking group in Southeast Asia. Sun has delivered the hardware and AU-System has licensed and implemented the AUS WAP Browser with authentication and encryption in accordance with the security standard WTLS class 2.
This solution is another good example of the broad potential of WAP, says Christer Bjrk, Business Area Manager at AU-System. Our WAP browser provides a customisable and secure platform for a wide range of mobile services.
The customers of DBS Bank can do their banking services, for example transfer money and pay bills, via their Palm Pilot PDAs. The WAP browser can be downloaded into the PDA directly from the banks web site. The solution offers an alternative to WAP phones for wireless access to Internet-based bank services. The customer can use the infrared port of an ordinary mobile phone to connect the PDA to the Internet.
