THQ build Wireless Games Edinburgh, Scotland and Los Angeles, California January 18th, 2002. Digital Bridges Ltd. the world leader in wireless entertainment services and THQ Inc. one the worlds most successful developers and publishers of videogames, today announced that THQ has selected Digital Bridges UNITY technology to power its wireless gaming development and publishing.
The deal gives THQs dedicated wireless gaming division - THQ Wireless - access to Digital Bridges world-leading UNITY technology. UNITY provides a global wireless solution, allowing games and entertainment services to be developed for and delivered to a worldwide audience supporting multiple mobile handsets, over multiple network protocols with content provided in multiple languages.
THQ Wireless plans to establish its own branded gaming channel, which will feature titles based on the companys many famous licensed games whereby THQ will negotiate its own development and distribution agreements. In the meantime Digital Bridges will provide hosting and distribution services to THQ where required. This partnership with Digital Bridges immediately gives THQ an enormous advantage upon entering the wireless market. Digital Bridges established network of operators and extensive UNITY development community provides a secure and established foundation from which THQ can develop their own global wireless strategy.
