Swedish WAP-technical Expertise for Export

Stockholm, August 25, 1999 - Through membership in the WAP-Forum, we ensure that we have and retain top competence within the area of mobile Internet, something that in the end is only going to be considered an advantage for our customers. It is an important step in our stake to be the best in developing solutions for Electronic Channels, says Per Dahl, business manager at Information Highway AB.

Information Highway has, among other things, developed a WAP-service that will give SMHI the ability to distribute weather forecasts to cellular phones. Within one year's time, it will be possible to click a button and get the local weather forecast directly from your cellular telephone, regardless of your current location in the world.

Ericsson has also turned for help from Information Highway, in order to identify the market possibilities in the development and sales of WAP-related services, as well as to analyse how WAP can support future cellular e-commerce solutions.
